About new calendar features in Finalist

Calendar integration features have grown enough that I think it would be helpful to explain how it works and the thinking behind it.

Let’s start with the motivation: a number of you have written in telling me you add time inside your task text to remind you that this task is time sensitive. I do the same.

I wanted to automatically sync that information with your calendar, so it’s available outside Finalist.

Now if you add a task “1pm Lunch”, you will get “Lunch” added automatically to your default calendar - in beta this option has to be turned ON in Settings → Lab.

Editing this task, postponing it or editing the time will automatically update your calendar. Deleting the tasks will remove the calendar entry. And as you get within an hour of that appointment you’ll see a small countdown appear on the task.

As complex as it is behind the scenes, ideally this feature will be invisible until you need it and won’t burden the app with more UI cruft. :grinning:

I love the new fix to load today.

The calendar time thing is super handy.

Can you add a url to deep link back into Finalist from the calendar.

Great idea for a deep link, I’ll give it a try

BTW this feature is a game changer. I love it.

Good to hear :grinning:

Suggestion: when marking a task complete remove from the calendar. I did something early and would love it if was no longer on the calendar.

Good idea!
